One Minute Eye Exam

It truly does just take a moment to determine if you or someone in your family has a need for a comprehensive eye exam. The questions in this quiz can assist you in that determination.

If you or a family member answers "yes" to one or more of these questions, or if it's been more than a year since you have seen an eye care practitioner, we highly recommend you schedule an appointment for an eye exam.

This piece is for information purposes only and should not replace an actual visit to your doctor.

The information provided is not intended to treat, diagnose, or cure any problems as related to your vision care.

We recommend that you see one of our eye care practitioners for matters of eye care health.

1.) Do you have difficulty reading road signs or the digital clock on home electronics or appliances?

child-glasses.PNGMyopia, known as nearsightedness, usually presents between the ages of 10 and 20. This is a progressive condition that blurs distance vision, but will usually stabilize by the time the patient is in his or her mid-20s. Annual eye examinations are important, as periodic lens changes are needed. Contact lenses may slow the progression of myopia.

Solutions

  • These may vary from glasses to contacts to surgical refractive correction.

2.) Do your eyes seem blurry or fatigued when engaged in close-up activities, such as reading or computer work? Do you suffer from headaches or neck pain while working at your desk or computer?

Yes No

Presbyopia, sometimes confused with farsightedness, blurs the vision for reading and other close work. It is related to the aging process and causes a loss of flexibility in the lens inside the eye. This typically begins around age 40 and will progress into one's early 60s. This can affect other vision problems, and it is important to get regular eye exams.

Solutions

  • A prescription for reading glasses
  • Progressive or bifocals in eyeglasses
  • TACT eyeglass lens for intermediate and near use only
  • Contact lenses in either mono-vision or multi-focal format

3.) Do glasses interfere with or hinder your enjoyment of certain outdoor or athletic activities?

Yes No
