Spring 2026 Scholarship Winner: Samuel Lund

We are proud to introduce our latest scholarship winner, Samuel Lund, whose leadership and sense of community service have impressed us. 
 
Samuel Lund is a current freshman at Colorado State University, Pueblo, majoring in Biomedical Sciences (Pre-Veterinary Medicine) with triple minors in Chemistry, Honors, and Leadership.

He is also a volunteer for Pueblo Food Project and Paws for Life Animal Rescue. Pueblo Food Project is a community-led coalition that helps create a more nutritious and equitable food system for the people of Pueblo, Colorado. Sam recently volunteered at Pueblo Food Project to prepare and serve a holiday meal, serving 700 individuals in the community facing food insecurity. Sam also volunteers at Paws for Life Animal Rescue, a non-profit organization with the goal of helping lost or unwanted animals, where he cleans kennels, does laundry, and socializes animals.

Coming from a remote area of Colorado where the nearest veterinarian is an hour away, Sam’s goal is to become a rural veterinarian. He shared, “My community is low-income, and many families cannot afford to drive an hour to obtain expensive medical care for their pets. My goal after completing veterinary school is to return to my home community to establish a veterinary clinic providing local and affordable care to serve families like mine.” 

Eye Associates grants two Nicholas A. Pennipede Memorial Scholarships annually, one in the spring and one in the fall. Higher education should be about pursuing passion, not worrying about tuition. That’s why Eye Associates is proud to empower dedicated students like Samuel on their journey toward academic and personal growth.
